He’s in love with Josiah and will do pretty much anything for him, including trying to find a way to be allowed to stay. Luther’s superior has plans, though, and there’s still a shooter on the loose in the forest. Then there’s Josiah’s problem with the band, which he knows will become worse once they find out he’s pregnant. From the very first time each of these boys were introduced earlier off in the series, I've been dying to read their stories. Finding out that they would come together in one book as mates, just made this book even better.First you have Luther. A good man who only wants to see peace come to both the shifters and humans around the world. He knows, or rather understands, that some shifters can be unpredictable at best. Then again so can humans. It's a give and take from each side of the world. Still he's instructed to see if there is any issue's brewing within the shifters that may, eventually, spill out into the human world. Concerned he tries to dig as deep as he can within this other world. The more he digs the closer he comes to one shifter in particular. The new coyote Alpha. A man who also is the very first Alpha/Carrier that anyone in the shifter world has seen. It doesn't take long before he finds himself wanting more, wanting to be closer.. a desperate need to protect this new Alpha.Josiah had never wanted to become an Alpha. He was quite happy, and very content, to just being a carrier. With the death of his father and brother, Josiah doesn't think he has any other option then to agree to become the new Alpha. Learning how much of a mistake it had become the moment his people find out. They want nothing to do with him, and are sure to make that obvious to the young Alpha. Still, Josiah doesn't want anything bad to happen to them, so he dives into his job. Trying to find any way possible to change their belief on him. When he first meets Luther he realizes that there's something different about this man. That he makes Josiah feel and want things that he probably shouldn't. The need to be happy, knowing that it could be just right in front of him has Josiah jumping towards it.The story between these two really isn't a happy one. However it is extremely well written in my eyes. The author's words capture each and every emotion she's trying to display within the characters hearts. I feel that this was an extremely deep story and quite definitly a HUGE wonderful part within this great series!! Luther is a human on a mission & Josiah is a shifter Alpha w/clan drama.Josiah is a reluctant and unwanted alpha to a band of coyotes. Who stood by while he was abused by his family. And deserves a HEA.Luther is a commander on a mission to keep shifters from breaking free of their forest prison, knowing they have no intention of doing so. Looking for a place in the world and finding it in the forest.I think it’s a great next chapter in the series. Well written and minus some poor abuse on a coyote by another band member (please be next book!!! Bennet needs safety and love too) I really enjoyed this book.
